Who Boon is
Boon (Swajal Water Pvt. Ltd.) is a watertech company founded in 2013 by Dr. Vibha Tripathi, an IIT Kanpur alumna, with co-founder Advait Kumar. It designs and manufactures its own purification platform (UltraOsmosis™), its own monitoring software (WaterAI™), Mineral Enhancers and in-house glass bottling plants (Refill) at its factory and R&D lab in Gurugram. Our journey
A decade in the making
Boon started in 2013, built on one belief: daily water deserves real engineering.

2013 — Where it began
Boon set out to bring clean, reliable water to people who had never had consistent access to it, starting with community water systems across India.

2015 — Building the engineering
That work turned into UltraOsmosis™, Boon's own purification platform, designed and built in-house rather than assembled from off-the-shelf parts.

2018 — Water made visible
WaterAI™ followed, bringing live monitoring to purification for the first time, and the first hotel partnerships came with it.

2021 — Trusted at scale
Oberoi, Aman, Six Senses and hundreds of other hotels and organisations came on board, running Boon systems across millions of glasses a day.

2026 — Home, and abroad
Everything learned at that scale is inside Boon Tap and Boon Tap Pro, the same engineering built for a single kitchen, now offered to homes, hotels and offices in Vietnam.

What is Boon Labs?
Boon Labs is Boon's in-house research and development: the lab and factory in Gurugram, India, where UltraOsmosis™ filtration, WaterAI™ intelligence, Mineral Enhancers, Water Profiles and the Refill bottling lines are designed, tested and built. It is also where Boon studies how people actually drink water, so the systems can be personalised rather than one-size-fits-all.
Where are Boon systems made?
At Boon's own factory and R&D lab in Gurugram, India. Filtration, electronics, software and the bottling lines are designed and built in-house rather than licensed in, which is also why Boon holds the patents on them.
Who owns and backs Boon?
Boon is the brand of Swajal Water Pvt. Ltd. Roca Group, one of the world's largest bathroom and kitchen product companies, is a strategic investor; the Technology Development Board of India's Department of Science & Technology supported Boon early, as did UNDP, UNIDO and NITI Aayog.
What has Boon won?
The Boon WaterAI™ App won the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026; the award belongs to the app, not to the hardware. Boon was incubated at IIT Kanpur and its founder received a UNIDO award.
